It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Simmons. She was born October 14, 1938 in Danville, GA to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Stuckey. She received her education in the Wilkinson County School System. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jackie (J.T) Simmons in 1959. From this union, four children were born. At an early age, she joined Mt. Tilla Baptist Church in Irwinton, GA. As an adult, she later joined Joycliff United Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated member for over 30 years. Afterwards, she become a member of the St. Paul AME Church, serving faithfully on the stewardess board until her death. She was employed for several years at Allied Chemical Company and retired with over thirty years of service with the Bibb County Board of Education. Her kind, gentle and humble spirit resonated in a very special way to her family and numerous friends. Sarah had an infectious smile, and an open door to her delicious meals, cakes, and sweet potato pies. Her presence will definitely be missed, but her spirit will surely live on the hearts of all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Middle Georgia Memorial Gardens located at 3225 Joycliff Road, Macon, GA. 31211. Reverend Kevin Moore will officiate. Her legacy will forever be cherished by her loving children, Priscilla Simmons, Tyrus(Cynthia) Simmons, LaTecia (Anthony) Moran all of Macon, Cassandra Driger, of Riverdale, GA; six grandchildren, Ashley Welton, Robert Welton, Alexzandria Moran, Wesley Simmons, all of Macon, GA, Sydney Driger, Kassidy Driger of Riverdale, GA; two great grands, Jaylah Welton of Macon, GA and Ailani Welton of Sandy Springs, GA; one brother, R.C. (Cynthia) Stuckey of Warner Robins, GA; two sisters, Inez(Ira) Stanley of Jeffersonville, GA, Annie(Clark) Bonner of Dublin, GA; five sisters-in-law, Hassie Lee (Walker) Hughes of Norfolk Virginia, Betty (Oscar) Hughes, Jeffersonville, GA, Virginia Burnett, Louvenia Stuckey all of Macon, GA, Janice Stuckey of Dublin, GA; two brothers-in-law, L.C. (Barbara) Simmons Lithonia , GA and David Simmons of Macon, GA; Four aunts, Mable Browner and Shirley Watkins of Macon, GA, Dorothy Watkins of Danville, GA and Emma Watkins of Miami, FL; God-daughter, Deborah (Michael) Braswell; God-son, Alphonso (Corliss) Ricks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Sarah’s life and legacy will be treasured forever. She touched lives in a special way, and will be terribly missed, but her memories will be cherished.
