Karen Yvette (Hudson) Thompson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Karen Thompson.  Graveside services will be held on Tuesday May 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061.

Karen Yvette Thompson, 49, of Warner Robins, Georgia, passed away on May 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on December 1, 1976, in Houston, Texas, Karen lived a life defined by service, devotion, and an unwavering love for those around her.

In November 1994, Karen answered the call to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. After completing Basic Training, she was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where she met Sedrick Thompson in the fall of 1995. Their first child, Sedkaria, was born in May 1997, and Karen and Sedrick were united in marriage on July 30, 1998. Karen separated from active duty later that year, and in November 1999, the couple welcomed their second child, Sedrick II. Shortly thereafter, in January 2000, the Thompson family embarked on an overseas assignment to Aviano Air Base in Italy. After five years abroad, they were reassigned to Edwards Air Force Base in California before ultimately settling at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia.  While in Warner Robins, Karen earned her Bachelor's degree in Business and began a distinguished career in the civilian federal service in 2007. Through dedication and exceptional competence, she earned multiple promotions and reassignments, ultimately serving as a Logistics Manager for France and Germany within the C-130 Foreign Military Sales Program Office. She held this position with distinction until her medical retirement in 2024.

Karen was a loving, caring, and fiercely loyal person whose remarkable intelligence was matched only by her generosity in sharing her knowledge with others. She was an avid lover of astronomy and an active member of the Middle Georgia Astronomical Society. She also treasured cheering on the Houston Texans alongside her husband.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Ann Hudson, and her father, George Tyler Hudson, Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband, Sedrick W. Thompson; her daughter and son-in-law, Sedkaria A. (Ryan) Sislow; her son, Sedrick W. Thompson, II; her stepdaughter Sedlicia E. Thompson; her brother, Brian Hudson; her sisters, Catrina (Kenneth) Baker and Stacey Yvette Hudson; her uncle, Charles Hudson; and her beloved grandchildren, Aurum R. Sislow, and Evryn B. Sislow; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and cherished friends.

Karen's faith in Christ sustained her throughout her life and provided comfort in her final days. May she now rest in the eternal light of His love.

"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly, to be fearful of the night.", Sarah Williams
