Joan (Cherry) Ellis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Joan “Cherry” Ellis.   A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the St. James AME Church, located at 367 Hungerford Road, Gray, Georgia 31032. Rev. Michael Burney, Pastor will Officiate and deliver the Eulogy. Interment will immediately follow at the St. James AME Churchyard Cemetery, located at 367 Hungerford Road, Gray, Georgia 31032.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two sons; Jarrell Ellis, Devin Ellis; mother, Maragaret Cherry; three sisters, Jessie Cherry, Lucy Coxton, Elizabeth (Zach) Abrams; four brothers, John (Carol Ann) Cherry, Arnold (Carolyn) Cherry, Alan Cherry, Thomas (Vontrika) Cherry; five granddaughters, Kayla Ellis, Kyla Ellis, Lexi Ellis, Josie Ellis, Lily Crook; one grandson, Kingston Ellis; one sister- in- law, Lillie M. Cherry,  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 2550 Shurling Drive, Macon, Georgia 31211.
