Frieda Mae Hancock of Macon, Georgia transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at the age of 78. After several years of declining health, Frieda passed away at the Atrium Navicent Hospital.
Frieda was born July 30th,1945 in Winchester, KY to the parents of Beatrice and Robert Chambers. Frieda grew up in Winchester, KY as the 8th child of nine from this union. Frieda was Born into a Christian home. She learned to serve GOD at an early age at Broadway Baptist Church, Winchester, Kentucky.
Frieda moved to Dayton in 1964, where she started her family. Frieda started a career as a cook at Frisch Big Boy where she worked for many years. After cooking for years at various other locations, Frieda decided to be a Home Day Care provider. She loved taking care of people of all ages. Frieda was a member of Harris Memorial C.M.E. Church, Dayton Ohio with the late Rev. O’Neil Shyne.
Frieda moved to Macon, Georgia in 1996, where she worked for the Bibb County school district for many years. After a work accident, she left the work life and focused on her family. Frieda worked intermittently at the Douglass Theatre, Macon, Georgia as the popcorn lady from 2014 until her untimely death. Frieda became a member of New Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Macon, Georgia under the leadership of the late Rev C. Raines, Sr. She serviced various ministries such as Mission Ministry and the choir.
Frieda - mother, grandmother, sister, great grandmother, friend and servient, loved being around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She especially loved visiting them and when they visited her. Frieda was a strong woman of Faith. Frieda loved to cook. Everyone loved her biscuits. Every time her family visited, first thing she would as is “Are you hungry?” She would always tell her family to be careful and stay safe. Always asked about her great grandchildren and made sure they knew she loved them.
Frieda was proceeded in death by her parents Robert and Beatric Chambers; her maternal grandparents Gilbert and Kattie Tribble; and paternal grandparents William “Bud Chambers and Amanda Shepard-Chambers; brothers Charles Crawford, James Crawford, Pee Wee Crawford, Robert (Bobby) Chambers, Jr., Jerry Mack, Richard Chambers, Joel Chambers and Louis Chambers; four sisters Ellen Chambers, Mary Louis Boyd, Linda Crawford and Joyce Faye Pittman; and one great grandson Kaydee Hancock.
Frieda leaves to cherish fond memories and celebrate her legacy: Frieda’s devote friend of 27 years, Earl Lyons (Georgia); Two Brothers Paul (Joann) Chambers (California), John (Edith) Chambers (Cincinnati), Three Daughters, Argent Re’nee’ (Joe) Roland (Texas); Chanda (Reginald) Evans (Ohio); Adrienne Michele (Tyrone) Goodnight (Florida); One son, Michael Dedmon (California).
Grandsons: Aaron Hancock (Tennessee), Calvin Brooks, II (Tennessee), Devin Hancock (Florida), Kendell Hancock (Florida), Michael Dedmon, Jr (California), Ryan Hancock (California) and Dyllon Dedmon (California); Granddaughters Markita Smith (Florida), Angelicia Edwards (Texas), Courtney Walton (Florida), and Michelle Dedmon (Nevada) and 14 Great-Grandchildren. Frieda also leaves behind a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends to cherish wonderful memories.
