It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Bettye Jean Moughorn Tharpe. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Saint Luke Baptist Church, located at 1180 Haywood Road, Macon, Georgia 31211. Pastor Christopher D. O’Bryant, Pastor of Saint Luke Baptist Church, will officiate. The Rev. Dr. Walter Glover, Jr., Pastor of Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will deliver the eulogy. Interment Services will follow at Middle Georgia Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 3225 Joycliff Road, Macon, Georgia 31211.

Mrs. Tharpe leaves to cherish her loving memory five devoted children: daughters, Dezanne Tharpe and Ellen Tharpe (the late Dennis) Lee; sons, Oscar (Linda) Tharpe, Jr., Rennazo Tharpe, and Hamartrya (Carrie) Tharpe, Sr.; eleven grandchildren: Bettina (Zizwe) Sealey, Cecilia Lee, Sabrina Lee, Desmond Brown, Danny (Erika) Brown, Jr. , Deja Wells (Vernon), Tierra Tharpe, Vacarro Tharpe, Briana Tharpe, Hamartrya Tharpe, Jr., and Isabella Tharpe; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the Funeral Home located 2550 Shurling Drive, Macon, Georgia 31211.  Richard R. Robinson Funeral Home & Cremation Services has charge of the arrangement
